Is my axle in correctly?
Hi,
I have a 97 CRV AWD Automatic. I am having some issues with my vehicle and would like to know if you guys can help solve it.
This is a picture of my front Passenger side Axle into the Transmission. Is it plug in all the way correctly? For my RSX the axle goes all the way into the tranny, I am not sure about my CRV. It did look like this when I pulled it out for a motor swap.

Please let me know. This car is driving me crazy

What are the issues?
A good way to be certain the axle is seated properly is to remove it from the wheel, flip the axle nut so that the broad flat side is flush with the end of the axle, compress the axle making sure it is as straight as you can make it, and tap that nut/end with a dead blow hammer a few times. Don't hit it like it owes you money, just a few light taps.
I replaced the passenger side on my daughter's '97 a few weeks back, but can't recall how that axle appears when seated. I do know it was not seated all the way until I did what I describe above.

Absolutely NOT!!! You need to push that axle in all the way and hope and pray you didn't ruin the splines on the differential. This basically answers all your questions in your other thread...
I just looked for and saw your other post that OneBad referenced - had not read that post prior. Yeah, sure sounds like you did not have that axle seated all the way. I can't tell from the pic you posted but would go with OneBad on that call. Pull it out and shine a flashlight up into the tranny housing and see if all the splines look OK. Snap a pic and post it up.
