2009 CRV - Engine stutters at red light/slow turns - next day dead battery!
Hello all,
First post here.
I have an odd one! Three times in the past 1 1/2 months, our 2009 CRV has behaved oddly, on our 30 minute drive home. The CRV's engine will appear to struggle (rumble, RPMs drop to almost a stall) whenever we made a slow turn (i.e. parking lot) or stopping at a red light. Additionally, I also observed that the fuel consumption bar remains fully lit for longer than normal, when stopping at a red light (normally it jumps high momentarily, then drops to 0).
The other side-effect of this behavior is always a dead battery, the following morning. This series of events has occurred three times now.
The battery is less than 1 year old and was also tested after the first incident.
I am suspecting something is causing a drain on the battery. The last time this occurred (last night), we expected a dead battery in the morning so I double-checked that nothing was plugged in and the lights were switched off.
It seems that some Honda part might be at fault.
Any ideas before I take the CRV into the dealer?
Thanks so much,
Shawn

Start with the easy stuff you take for granted: Battery cable connections - Clean? Good contact? Shorts? Opens? Especially the ground - I've had this type of thing pop up several times over the years on my cars and bikes, funny how basic problems can sometimes fool you into thinking something major is wrong. Other than that the battery might have a bad cell. Got another known good one to swap temporarily?
