I fxkcj up my speedo
hi guys I'm new to HT so bare with me. I read a thread on how to roll back your odo good write up.. anyways.. I didn't do anything the right up did onto properly roll back your odometer and I just need some closure.. I took everything apart gently and I wish I read the write up before I messed around with the speedo but I'm pretty sure I fxkdwd something up.. Instead of taking everything apart like you should I took a flat head stuck it in between the numbers pressed fairly light like 500lbs of pressure no big.. and rolled that mother back.. After putting everything back together screws and all the plugs plus the speedo cable I went to go test it and now everything works but the speedo. it's stuck on 0 mph doesn't go past 20mph checked the speed cable it looks fine even checked the tranny is is was rusted or loose and nothing. question is did I mess it up or did I mess it up? If so how do I fix it if possible..
I had an extra speedo but I did the same flat head trick I did it to that one before I messed around with the one I had in the car just to familiarize myself to how to take the odometre out and the plastic cover and so on. Thanks for your time guys hope my ignorance made you laugh

OK so the last part of my message I forgot to add what the point was.. I'm tired it's 620am.. I had the other speedo and I tried to plug that one in and same issue everything works but the speedo. I even tried cleaning the speed cable. I'm 100% sure I clicked it in all the way and have everything plugged in properly.
You should be able to plug something into the back of the speedo and spin it manually to see of you get movement. If I recall correctly, a regular wooden pencil is the tool of choice.
If the speedo needle moves then your problem is with the cable or the connection to the cable.
EDIT - Found it. This is the test for the pulser, but same thing.
On a working speedo you can spin the cable at the trans and it will move the speedo needle.
Pencil should work just fine
