Default Odd clutch wear d series

i picked up a d16z6 wih 150k miles just recently from a guy who knew nothing about it except that it "needs a clutch".

i took the trans apart and found a brand new clutch and resurfaced flywheel...so why was it slipping?

the outer most edge of the flywheel is polished, the outermost edge of the pressure plate is polished and the outermost edge of the clutch disc is chipping and rubbed.

when i say outermost, i mean only on the very edge and at most 1/4" thick contact patch.

what could cause this odd spot? i have a new clutch and pressure plate but am curious how the clutch could have worn this way unless they never broke it in.

i have no idea how many miles it has but the flywheel has fresh machine marks and has never been touched on the inner edges since the clutch was put in.

ill grab some pictures of it tomorrow when i have access to the shop again.

been busy with work....always busy

here are the pictures. it may just be that the guy put a new clutch in a ripped the shi out of it but asking for more opinions never hurts

also, dont have pictures of the flywheel. However, it is an exact copy of the pressure plate

???thumbnails?? i can resize if need be

Wrong clutch or flywheel? Bad install? Pedal not adjusted correctly?

flywheel looks oem to me, ive had a few of these apart before so nothing looked odd.

all bolts were tight.

looks to me like they used the factory pressure plate and resurfaced it but once again, i can not confirm.

the disc material in one spot is loose, as in wobbles a bit while the rest of it is nice and tight

my only thoughts were, warped disc or no break in.

this was more out of curiousity as i have a new clutch and pressure plate, and the wear is...odd

Maybe the pressure plate was new and the pedal was not adjusted correctly and burned up the friction material.

engine will be put together and dropped in this weekend but after seeing a brand new clutch and having been given information that it slipped made me kind of weary of what might actually be wrong but i am most likely over thinking it at this point. guess we will find out after i try out my new clutch...hell i havent even heard this motor run yet. it might not even start

Wrong clutch, improperly adjusted pushrod at the master cylinder keeping the clutch always disengaged, clutch disc not made right (too thin) or crankwalk could all cause this.
