Temp Gauge Hitting the full
Currently i have had a problem with my Honda Civic 1.6 vtec 2005. The temp gauge goes to the full when driving a certain amount of miles. I have replaced the thermostat. Still did the same. Got the garage to do a compression test. The radiator has no leaks and they reckon that the water/coolant is evaporating. They have advised me to get 2 new sensors and a radiator and at the moment the car is running fine but usually within 4 days it will go up again so i am waiting to see what happens.
Can anyone help?
Also would like to add - does anyone know when a civic is running rich where would u find this problem in a standard honda civic 1.6 vtec 2005?
If anyone could help that would be great
Thanks
Cal

You have some very interestingly worded questions, but OK... Also, details help here. What sensors? Any other pertinent information? It all matters when trying to diagnose a car without seeing it, hearing it, or feeling it. Namely what codes it is throwing if any and any other thing you can come up with.
it could be overheating for many different reasons even something like your catalytic converter being bad. Need more information to be of any real help.
PS - The temperature gauge doesn't "get full", that's when your car is DANGEROUSLY overheating.

They reckon it's evaporating from where??? IF you're NOT losing coolant, and maybe this is a shot in the dark, have you confirmed it's not something in the gauge wiring and/or circuitry? The ScanGauge that's connected to the OBD II port in my son's 99 Accord displays coolant temperature, so did the place actually confirm the degree of overheating? What about pointing a simple IR thermometer at the top of the radiator and comparing it to the reading near the outlet hose?
