Default 94 Accord V-Tec Transmission Lunges

Hello to all
My current situation is really baffling.
My son has a 94 Accord with the V-Tec engine, when it is cold, it idles and runs perfectly.
When the car warms up, and the transmission is placed in reverse or drive, there is the initial engagement, then there is an additional lunge ( kinda like the converter is locking up and creating a heavy load on the engine) and the car starts the "hunting for correct idle".
My son took the car to a service person to have it diagnosed. The report was the tranny is failing.
Now, is there a solenoid that can be creating this problem?
I have the Dealer service manual and I do not know where to begin to look for troubleshooting.
Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated
Blessings
Oh yeah, if the selector is placed in Low, the car lunges and dies almost immediately!

Converter lockup generally stalls the engine. The symptom you describe is a clutch that grabs, releases slightly due to torque, and reapplies when line pressure catches up.

If they told you the transmission has problems, which ones? What doesn't work? What does? Stall test? Does the converter lock up normally over 40mph? Transmission fail is not a diagnosis, it is a guess.

Thank you for the reply.
Funny you mention the stall test!!!
I just read the procedure in the service manual. Will perform it when I see my son!
Thank you.
I am hoping for a bad solenoid.

If you have the service manual, look at the expected pressures at the specified ports for a given gear. You will need a transmission oil gauge to check for correct pressure. No need for the Honda uber gauge @1200, ~$50 should be able to acquire a reliable one, make sure it comes with metric fittings.

Ok will check pressures.
Stall test appears good. About 2600-2700 R's
He has a bad brake light wiring. So I was thinking that could be making the converter lock up. When I disconnected the drivers side connection, car seemesd to run better. Next day no difference when unplugged. My dad is looking into the wiring.
Any ideas as to why the car dies when selector is placed into Low?
Thank you again for your valuable time.

Would excessive trans fluid cause problems?
This baby is about to go to a reputable SHOP!!!!
LOL
It still seems to engage twice. 2nd and 1st kill the engine instantly and you can hear some "ratcheting" when the engine stops.

Also, the problem only occurs when engine is warm/proper temp.
