Default brakes creak on passenger side of car

98 bone stock civic hatchback cx - Canada

hi there

all of a sudden my passenger front of the car started to creak. like an unoiled heavy door hinge. The creaking only occurs tho when I am braking at speeds of less than 20km per hour. Sometimes also when I am rolling in neutral. Seems to be more prevalent when its wet and rainy outside. Cant seem to figure out what it is. I tried pushing down on the shock and it bounces up fine with no sounds.

Are these signs of a bad lower bj? I tried to find something similar on the forums but nothign that matches this.

anyone know?

thanks,

The brake pads are probably worn out and need to be replaced.

99.9% agree

only last thing i'll say is maybe part store brakes not liking the cold, my 00 Si's brakes are squeaking now with the almost 0 degree weather. I won't go as far as to so you have hawk HP+ pads that's extremely unlikely(race pads)/

Double check the brake pad install, grease the brake pad contact points, and grease the caliper slide pins.

it also makes the sound in when i turn the steering wheel side to side at low speeds when im rolling. Are these indicators of the lower ball joint? i should add that i dont have power steering. Never came with the car.

are these still brake related if they occur when im not touching the brakes?

Sounds like the metal splash guard is bent and rubbing on the brake rotor - 2 minute fix.

It doesn't sound like metal rubbing it sounds like a hinge that is creaking...I will check the metal plate. Do I need to remove the rotor for this?

Get your damn story clear and straight. Otherwise, this thread will travel to lock-ville.

sorry about that, was trying to give the most accurate description

http://vidmg.photobucket.com/albums/...psgtevqh35.mp4

is a clip of the sound it is making. I hear it when i press the brakes at slow speeds also when I am moving at slow speeds (1st gear up to 10-15km/hr. Its almost as if when I am moving, something is sticking and creaking apart as I get moving again and finally lets go when i get above 15km/hr.

I pressed down on the car and the struts dont seem to be making any noises and come back up fine with no bounce either.
