Default fuel pump

Hey guys I just got my walbro 255 in the mail. My question is I'm trying to install it on a 91 civic. The 91 has posts that bolt on to the old fuel pump and the new one has a plug in like the 92-95s have. how do I wire this in maybe a stupid question but I've never changed one before. Do I cut the wires that are inside the tank and but connector them together or will they short out?

Just follow the instructions in the install kit you should have bought with the pump
