Default F22B1 head vs. F23A1 head

It may be time to do some work on my F22B1 VTEC head and I am thinking about just buying another head and the salvage yard and swapping them out. From what I see, it is much easier to find a good F23A1 VTEC head than the F22B1 since most Gen 6 Accords came with VTEC. I know it is a direct swap, but what about the little details? Will the cams interchange? The distributors? Is the number of teeth on the timing belt the same? My plan is to use all the components from the old head except the valves and valve springs.

When I say "will the distributors interchange" this is because I plan to use my OBDI VTEC-enabled distributor and don't want to have anything to do with OBDII. I have read they will interchange with no problems, but I have also heard that they may not.

I used my F22B2 external coil distributor when I did my F23A1 swap. You should be fine there, using your F22B1 distributor. The cams are interchangeable. Use an F22B1 timing belt. I think there's some differences in the head(different part numbers), but without having both bare heads side by side, it's difficult to say for certain if there's any casting differences and what not. From what I can tell, it really isn't anything major. Why are you wanting to keep the F22B1 cam?

It is cheaper to buy the head without the cam. If they are the same, I will just reuse my old one.
