Default '96 Honda passport ticking

Hello, I'm new and I have a '96 passport newly purchased that has a louder knock at idle and starts going away as rpm increases. I was told it might be the lifters. It does seem louder on the passenger 3cyls....but it is on both sides. Are there any parts in the valve train such as rod tips that have a history of wearing out? Any input before I start tearing her down would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ben
