Default 1992 Sedan D16Z6 to D15Z1 conversion: Which exhaust piping to use?

I'll be converting a '92 CDM Civic EX-V to accept a D15Z1 motor. However, before it goes anywhere, it needs a replacement B-pipe. Since there is no such thing as a VX sedan in North America, I don't know enough about exhaust stuff to know if I should replace it with the pipe that's used for an EX/EX-V sedan, or one that's used on an LX, which might be more appropriate for the D15Z1 engine? These are different part numbers, I think one is narrower, but the lengths are the same? What would be the difference, and the loss or benefit of each option?

Thanks.

Will you be getting the VX cat converter? You should be able to still use your current exhaust with this motor, its just the cat that is specific to reduce the high nox this engine produces.

Post #37 the OP talks about which exhaust he used for his conversion. Pics in post #38.

The B-pipe needs replacing (rusted, no good anymore), so it is a matter of deciding which version to get: the one for the EX/EX-V or the one for an LX.

Yes, I have the VX cat converter ("maniverter") and the VX A-pipe. On a D15Z1 sedan, this would normally mate directly with a B-pipe, but this is where the cat is on this car - need to replace this with a straight-pipe or gut a cat.

Tx for the link. Seems like he just stuck with the stock LX piping. But my question is - since I need to replace the current B-pipe (mid-pipe), would there be a preference between an EX/EX-V pipe or an LX pipe to mate with the D15Z1 motor? Am thinking LX since it should be narrower.... but what difference would it make anyway? Maybe this is much ado about nothing, but I don't want to **** this purchase up and regret it.

This was good advice, thanks. DX, etc., 96-00 pipe has no cat and fits perfectly under the 92-95 vehicle. Used one at yard was $15, can't beat that. Only difference of note was there is only one hanger at the mid-point on the stock 96-00 unit vs. the 92-95 has two. Length, dimensions, etc. were all compatible / identical.

Yeah I had to do some real thinking on what you needed, and then the decision was clear on that one. Pics god dammit....
