Gotta replace my rack and pinion on my 97 DX hatchback manual steering, and was wondering if I can throw one in with power steering lines but just cut the lines?

Are you planning to convert to p/s all the way?

 

no he wants to know if the PS parts will work as reliable replacements for manual steering, and function as a manual rack would.

 

Some have gotten away with it.....

 

Its a completely different driving experience.

 

I driven a manual rack and pinion del sol, wasnt' that bad. I'd rather buy another manual R & P than worry about the compatibility issues.

 

power steering racks use fluid on a brass bushing, and the fluid lubricates them, manual have grease + teflon bushing.

maybe short term for like 3 months max, but after that I would be freaking out every time I drive...
