Default Funkster's 2000 CR-V

I picked up a 2000 CR-V yesterday and figured, like with most of my cars I would start a log/build thread.

Quick info about me, I also have a 2010 Honda Fit as a daily driver. My big build is an 03' Silverado with a 76mm turbo on E85. Currently going through some winter changes from last year. The old combo was good for 650+ whp.

Regarding the CR-V:
2000 Honda CR-V LX
4WD
5 Speed
Clover Green Pearl
128,243 miles

I purchased it from a speed shop I work at. It came in with a blown head gasket and overheating issues. The head was removed, decked, cleaned and rebuilt. Waterpump was changed at the same time along with timing belt, etc. A new radiator was also installed and some minor body work was done. Everything runs great now and I am hoping to hold on to it for a long time.

This is the only picture I have managed to grab so far, I still need to do some buffing and general clean up so don't judge too harshly. :D

The general plan is to restore the vehicle to as new as is feasible and maybe do some light modifications as well. I look forward to sharing what work I do with you guys and girls.

I started this weekend with some small detailing stuff. First, I took the taillights off and polished them back up a bit.

They were swirled up pretty bad with some hazing and a few small scuffs. You can see the swirls in the light reflection.

You can see more of the swirls and the overall haziness of the lights here.

A close up of the finished lights shows a huge reduction in defects and a big increase in clarity.

Next I did some work on the hood. It had a large amount of defects and while I was unable to remove 100% of them I did end up with a pretty respectable final product for a 15 year old car.

The hood included the following steps:
Two Bucket Wash (Grit Guards in both)
Clay bar with Optimum Car Wash dilution
Remove heaviest defects with Lake Country Yellow Pad & Meguiars M105
Next refine with Lake Country Orange Pad & Meguiar's M205
Topped with Meguiar's Ultimate Paste on a Lake Country Black Pad
Removed hazed wax with Nanoskin Nano Shock lubricant

Most of the defects gone.

After finishing polish a sun reflection to show the clarity.

I was short on time so only the hood was done along with general interior cleaning. Hopefully the weather will allow more this weekend.

Nice...good to see someone bringing one of these back. I'm in the process of selling my db8 and plan to grab a crv as well...looks like you got a nice one to start with!

I assume you've already found your answer but the easiest way to find out is to check rockauto or amazon.
