Ok so I have a d16z6 engine, it's manual and the idle was always really rough, from startup to even warm, it was always surging up and down, so I've been looking for idle fixing issues, today I clened the IACV and now when I went to start it, it wouldn't even start unless I had my foot on the gas and wouldn't stay running either until I had my foot on the gas, what could the issue be? Is it just a bad iacv? H

 

Did you also clean the FITV and adjust it?

 

No not yet , I just thought it was weird that it ran pretty well before I did anything and as soon as I cleaned it n put it back on, it would only run if I gave it gas and held the gas, just weird.

 

Reset idle from procedures in the FAQ under the air intake and idle control. Based on my experience, idle gets a little funky after cleaning out the IACV/FITV especially if it's clear it's never been cleaned before or in a very long time.
