Need help! 2002 Honda Civic Instrument Cluster Problem
I have a 2002 Honda Civic EX coupe manual. Just bought it 3 days ago. Knew the instrument panel was messed up and was told that I could just replace it. The speedometer is stuck at 25 mph doesn't matter if the car is on, off, driving, or not driving. The tachometer doesn't work at all. The oil temperature seems to work except for that when the car is on or even just turned to the on position the oil temp. gauge starts at almost the half way point. Even when it hasn't been started since the day before. The reason I think it works is because it starts from the half way and when driven for 45 min down the highway and then parked and checked the engine was not overly hot other than the normal heat I mean I could touch the engine but not for long. As well it started from the half way point and then gradually worked its way up to about 7/8 of the way to hot and stayed there. The odometer flickers on and off in sync with the backlighting to the cluster. If the headlights are on then I have no backlighting or odometer. If the headlights are off it is on and then when the parking brake is released and still in natural the backlighting stays on. It only stays on if the parking break light goes off. Yes. The parking brake light on the dash always stays on. There are a couple time that the light went off and I mean like literally 2 times and the backlighting worked as well as the odometer read but ounce put into gear the backlighting flickers and the odometer reads the 888888. As well when you can read the odometer, meaning it is actual numbers, it says 124,254 but it is only readable about 1/10 times the odometer and backlights flicker on. If I am in neutral and shack the stick back and fourth left and right the backlighting flickers on and off. Now this is my first time with a stick and sad to say but two times I forgot to release the parking brake. The annoying dinging noise indicating the parking brake is pulled sounded, and when released it goes away instantly as excepted. The reason I bring that up is the parking brake light is always on in the dash, but the sound that comes from the dash only happens when it is actually pulled. The lights such as SRS, turn signal, high beams, battery, and oil lights all light up when on the on and seem to work accordingly ounce on, with the exception on working accordingly for the brake light. If I put my turn signal on it works or my high beams and sometimes when the odometer does flick on while I'm driving and my seatbelt isn't on it will light up and start a ding noise but goes right back off as does the backlighting. Appears to work with less issues in the heat of the day.
