Need help please!! Honda Crx no start
Hello HT. Been a while since ive been on here but i have a doozy this time.
Alright so the beginning of this month i was driving my 88 Crx around. Took off from first, shifted to 2nd, and then the car just died in the middle of the road. I tried turning it back on to have the car just crank. Gave it a bit of gas during the crank and nothing. So i take it home and get a cheap distributor, because well i thought that was the problem. It was installed and as soon as i crank the engine, the sounds is a bit uneven. I take my old one to get rebuild and while im at it i change out the main relay, and still get the same sound during cranking. Checked the wires for spark and its there, so there is no lack of spark . Car smells like gas each time i crank, and occasionally the car will backfire when i attempt to start it. Any idea or point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!!!

Assuming that the plugs are good, it sounds like you should have spark. Hmmm... shot in the dark but, did your timing belt break?

No checked that too...im kinda lost with this one...not sure if maybe clogged exhaust system might cause this..or not getting enough air through intake..im really not sure...
When you are pressing the accelerator, you aren't giving it gas.
You are giving it more air.... Ecu then gives more gas via TPS reading.
Sounds like your timing belt jumped a few teeth since you occassionally get a backfire.

No need to replace the belt if it is in good condition.
Just make sure cam and crank are lined up correctly.
If they are not, then figure out why not
