P.R.E. 84.25X89 Stock port/sleeve B20V Dyno

We just wanted to share this really simple build with the members here. We built this engine for a customer of ours with budget in mind. We were able to plan and cost out the build in order to keep it within his budget. I can say that the customer's goal was exceeded after we got off the dyno 2 weeks ago!

Note: I tuned this with a FULL 2.5" chambered exhaust so there's still more power to be had with things as a better header, open header, ported head, etc.

Onto the build:

Block:
84.25 Wiseco K594M8425AP pistons
stock sleeves
stock 89mm crank
stock rods
ARP Rod bolts
ACL Race Bearings

Head:
Stock Port B16 Head
Performance Valve Job
Valvesprings
OEM K-series retainers
cams (Degreed in)
stock valves

Intake:
3" tube
Blox velocity stack
Skunk2 Ultra Street IM

Fuel:
Walbro 255 Pump
ID1000cc Injectors
Pump E85

Exhaust:
PLM Small tube Tri-Y
PLM test pipe
Yonaka Exhaust part number YMCB001

Pistons, Rods, Rod bolts, Bearings

Dyno:STD CF and Smoothing 5

Pk tq at 7500 rpms is what you want to be fast

There is more to that valvejob than ppl think, a Stock head would not support 250whp! "ALONE!"

So BASICALLY, you have the following:

Pistons
Good VJ
Cams
Header
IM/TB
E85

And made 250whp.

Stock b16 ports can support 250whp with trick vj

Small tube PLM tri-y can support 250whp. I thought it maxed out at 242whp, guess not

Thanks guys! Just glad to be able to keep putting together builds that are trying to maximize the stock ports as well as sharing this data with the members.

We'll aim for 260whp through the small tube and full exhaust once spring comes around.

What is the compression at with those pistons? How much of a difference do you think the e85 makes vs pump 93?

Those are some great numbers.

Those pistons have a 8.25cc dome, so depending how much milling/decking has been done I'd say its in the neighborhhod of 13-13.5:1. The torque tells the story of high compression as well.

Or could be from the single lobe design of the camshaft, the header design, high octane fuel, or the correct intake manifold choice :-).

The machine shop utilizes a Serdi to cut the VJ.

Compression is approx. 13.2:1. Minimal material was removed from the head and deck, only enough to get a fresh surface.

I personally wouldn't risk running this setup on pump 93 so can't comment on possible power differences of pump. I do know that I've personally seen minimal gains between 93 and E85 with setups under 12.5:1 compression, like 1-2% gains.

Did they mod the pistons? That part number is 84.25 pistons w/ a 8.25 dome.
