Cooling fans are not - (or don't need to be) controlled by the ECU. The coolant temp switch completes the fan circuit to run the fan until the switch opens again. sometimes a relay is used. find the factory wiring schematic for your Shuttle and patch it into your engine harness to utilize the existing temp switch.
