Wiring a 98 radio into a 97
So my JVC CD/iPod player died in my 97 Accord and a friend was selling a Honda radio out of his 98 since he upgraded to some Sony unit. I saw that the wires were different so I got the correct adapter harness, matched up the wires, crimped them. The only ones that didn't match up was a wire for the dash illumination and a wire for the power antenna. My car doesn't have a power antenna. It's in the back window. So when driving at night, I can't see my radio lights at all. What would happen if I wired those together? Would I be able to see the lights on the radio or did it not come a wire for that? Also, if I got the factory cage for my car, would the 98 stereo fit flush in my car like a 97? If so, any of you have one for sale? lol.
Red with black is the lights on signal.
Look at the back of the 98 unit. Counting across 1-10 on the top row of where the connector would go, #9 is where the light on signal should connect.
If you don't have a power antenna, I would just cap off that lead from the radio.

So I looked up the radio wiring for both the 98 and 97 accords. It appears that the 98 radio doesn't have an illumination wire but it does have a dimmer wire. Whereas the 97 has an illumination wire but not a dimmer wire. Are they the same?
Power antenna is capped off atm..
