So I have a good deal on a k20a2 engine. I could swap it and kpro for a steal. Would it be ok to keep my 5 speed manual for the k20a2? Or would that totally kill the swap?

no the 5 speed sucks you drop out of the power band every shift

 

I would keep the 5 spd. First off its free and secondly you have kpro so you can manipulate the crossover to keep yourself in the power-band.
If you find that you need a different ratio on your gearing, you can always get your 5 spd's final drive changed and get a lsd while you have the tranny open.

 

go for a dc5 gearbox, the best bang for the buck. you get very good ratios, 6spd and lsd with that choice.
