came with R12 ac system.

will the R134a evaporator fit in the blower box ?

does the evaporator need to be changed or are the R12 and R134a evaporators interchangeable

they are different part # but not sure if that just because of the change from R12 to R134a

I guess the the real question is can I swap the r134a evap into the R12 blower box

Yeah it will. Get one from an EK or CRV so you have the cabin air filter option. The EK's will have an empty slot with no filter support so you'll have to order that from Honda. The CRV will have the support.

Anything involving lines will have to change.

you are saying to get that I have to get the blackbox as the current one will not work?

I say this because you say to get one from an EK or CRV for the but that would let you add the filter but that would be the black box that lets you add the filter, correct ?

I already have the original and just wondering if I could just swap the evap inside the blower box.

Speaking as the guy who wrote the DIY on cabin filter retrofits on 5G Civics.... I actually suspect the R134a evap can be swapped over on a car with existing R12 lines. One bolt is of a different size, but everything else seemed to fit OK when I test fit one. I never did an evac and fill, though, so you're on your own there. And FYI, "baller_status" is talking about swapping in an evap with the provision for a cabin filter. Read my DIY on this by clicking my signature. Great upgrade.
