Amplifier help needed!
Hello I recently wired up an amp to my car 4 channel, my problem is when I went to splice the blue remote turn on wire to the amp I couldn't get the amp to turn on, when I jump it to the battery wire I get a red led on my amplifier and when it's wired up to the radio illumination wire it does nothing thanks in advance for any help provided really new at this and doing it by myself
It doesn't go to the illumination wire, it goes to the power antenna output wire. If there is not enough current to keep the amp on, add a relay to assist in keeping the amp on

Thanks for posting. the car stereo store was going to charge 450$ to install it and would have needed a new deck also but I ended up buying the wires myself and using y splitters to connect the 2 rcas to the 4 channels, and for the remote turn on I had to trial and error jump it to several wires and settled on the ignition wire that's yellow, it all works great hits hard and I spent less the 450 on the entire system still need a sub and second amp but just love this crx thanks again
The yellow wire?
Does the amp power off when you turn the car off?
What about when you turn the radio off?
The blue wire (power antenna/remote turn on) is what you should have used. It will power down the amp when the radio is turned off.
What radio (brand + model) do you have?

Red is power, yellow is switched power, black is ground. It is VERY simple dude. Hook remote to either the dedicated remote wire off the radio which is usually blue or blue/grey striped, or hook it to the yellow wire. Unhook everything else on the radio until you can understand how those 3 wires work and get the radio to power on and turn the amp on.
Unhook speakers from amp, just keep power/ground/remote until you can get it to turn on with the key without it going into protect mode.
Very important to scrape a nice clean ground for your amp, too. Don't overlook that.

why are you splitting the RCA outs? is this a head unit with only one set? what are you driving with the amp? are you using a four channel to power all four speakers, using two channels for speakers and two for subs or what? if you are using the amp to drive your four interior speakers, get a line level converter, the schoche one at walmart isn't terrible, this lets you run all four sets of speaker wires into it, and you get four rca level signals out, this will allow you to retain your fader function from the head unit, as far as seeing if the amp turns off, just turn off the key and look at the LED on the amp, if it stays on with the key off, then thats your battery drain. what is going on with the blue wire? did you test it with the radio on and off? some of them, it's not a remote lead, but a power antenna lead, and only raises the antenna when the head unit is on radio
My problem was the blue wire wasn't a remote wire i hooked it up to the blue initially but it wouldn't turn the amp on at all so I jumped it to the yellow and the light stayed on even when the car was off, so I jumped it to the red and I finally got the amp to work and shut off properly. The only trouble I am having is when I turn the ignition to the first notch and leave it, it makes a horrible buzzing noise but can be averted by going to the second notch then back down idk why, also thanks I will go get a converter I have y splitters powering 4 channels front back speakers, car is 91 crx

Crappy dual with 1 pair of preamps like the head cuz it has cd aux USB and was cheap it really isn't a problem anymore I just didn't realize I could stop it from buzzing if I turned the key to the second notch, it's only when I turn the key one turn and leave it that it seems to do it. I appreciate everybody's help I really plan to learn as much as I can about this and all of your input has helped me with that a lot.
I appreciate all the help even though I may have been confusing. I have the amp working fine. The remote wire is wired to the one that works whether it is red or yellow you know the one. the 91 crx I have doesn't have a remote turn on wire. Thanks again this is a very helpful community and I am so glad I was given this car

the car isnt supposed to have a remote turn on wire, the head unit is, if there isnt one, wire the remote lead to a source that shuts off when you turn off the key
