Default Valve Adjustment - B18B1

Had a quick question before I do a valve adjustment on my car tommorow.

I went to Sears and could only find .005+ angeled feeler gauges. I know the LS valve specs are .003-.005 (intake). I figured I would just use the .005 and make it a little tighter so it would be closer to .004 or .003. Good idea? Bad idea? I know .005 will work but I heard it's better to go lower (quieter).

Also, I know you need Honda Bond for the valve cover when you put it back on. Will any type of bond stuff work (the kind they sell at Schucks or any other automotive store)? Or do you guys recommend getting Honda Bond directly from Honda?

Thanks a bunch.

By the way, I did a search.

I say jus get the feeler gauge. kindda weird how sears didn't have it but i'm sure most auto parts stores should have it though. it's cheap so u might as well get it. As far as the bond they will all WORK but i dunno, totally up to u if u wanna do it w/ quility oem stuff or jus watever stuff. shouldn't matter THAT much.

I did exactlly the same thing. When to sears, bought the feeler guages, got pissed, when to autozone, bought more feeler guages, then did the job later.

Ah, so you just went with .005 (intake) and tighten a little more?

I wonder if there's any difference between Honda Bond and the other kind you get at Schucks. My guess is they are made out of the same exact stuff. I'm not sure if there's any real technology/advantages in glue other than mixing whatever chemicals they use and putting it in a bottle. But I don't know anything about it so I'm probably wrong.

If anybody knows, it would be great. I'd really like to do everything correct/good the first time. I'm still kind of worried about the valve cover gasket. I'm gonna use the stock one I have on my car (120k miles). Dunno if I should.

Replace it along with the spark plug donuts.
