Nice work, did you have a parts list you can post? How was the wiring done?

This still isn't legal in most of the United States. I'm shocked at how much was removed from the subframe, as well. Even with reinforcement... I can see a large weakness coming from that spot.

It probably doesn't matter because of where the owner of that car is located. The owner probably knew what he was getting into.

He's in Arizona... it matters there. They do not have specific laws on engine swapping, so it falls on federal government ruling.

For light-duty vehicles, installation of a light-duty engine into a different light-duty vehicle by any person would be considered tampering unless the resulting vehicle is identical (with regard to all emission related parts, engine design parameters, and engine calibrations) to a certified configuration of the same or newer model year as the vehicle chassis, or if there is a reasonable basis for knowing that emissions are not adversely affected as described in Memo 1A. The appropriate source for technical information regarding the certified configuration of a vehicle of a particular model year is the vehicle manufacturer.

Well I sure as hell ain't gonnna "police" that. Thats between him and the law.

Side note I'm not sure if that subframe should be left alone like that. Hopefully something was done.

Yes the subframe got reinforced quite a bit in the section that was modified. I kept seeing. People were concerned about that.

Most swaps done are not all quite legal. You know just as well as I do what specific cases I refer to. I know every law there is to emissions. I too am a licensed state inspector. The area where they reside does not need to comply to any emissions of any sort. Even if they were in such areas, there is loopholes that apply in certain cases. Just got to know the law.

I honestly couldn't care less as to what happens with the B-series swaps that are out there. Its all fine to me, since its not my own car. I'm just putting it out there for those who are unaware of how the law looks on it, and hoping to help those who are unfamiliar.

I agree whole-heartedly. I had to go through quite a lot of research and work to make my car pass the requirements necessary to make it a 50-state legal vehicle... even though I live in a county that requires no emissions testing, nor discriminates against engine swaps.

I was talking to someone and he told me that his son built this small little jeep, had it registered with a VIN and everything in Tempe, Az. I was like WTF......

He did everything by the book so its legitimately on the road, manual wipers and all. I kid you not.

edit: when I mean built, I mean made the frame, doors and everything.
