Alright, so I've painted nearly all the interior trim panels except for the doors and everything has gone smooth so far. Whenever i got to the doors, the finish was super sticky with the paint i had been using (Krylon fusion for plastic) so i asked for help. Someone recommended that i use Duplicolor for vinyl and fabric so i sanded them down to they're base color and gave that a shot. The driver and passenger door came out GREAT with occasional fading over the course of the paint job but i just resprayed and it finally came out smooth and glossy.Now whenever i got to the passenger doors they stay glossy for about 30 seconds after spraying them then immediately fade to a matte grey color...? Has anyone else experienced this? They're also incredibly easy to peal. Is it because i didn't prep right? I admit i did clean the driver and passenger and let it sit overnight.

 

That looks awful. Are you saying you WANT it to be glossy?

Glossy interior paint stands out like a sore thumb IMO and screams "painted". IMO you would actually want it to be matte on the final outcome so it's not so obvious it was painted and actually looks more stock.

If I were you I would get off as much paint as you can and clean it very very well with at least alcohol and try again. And don't cake it on so thick and don't mix products/brands. You don't need to try to be sanding your door panels. Rub all the paint off with alcohol - which may take you a while but it's the best thing to do. Acetone will likely cut through it much much faster but make sure to test it on a small spot first to make sure it doesn't "melt" your door panel.

And please spend the extra 5 minutes to remove and paint separately the door lock trim piece and pull handle trim piece in the panels. Will make the outcome so much nicer.

Your problem is Humidity bud! It was far to damp when/where u sprayed the panel! Peal/strip paint back off( theirs a paint striper for plastics), clean/ wipe down panel with isopropyl alcohol at least 2x,, rubb over the panel with a red scotchbrite witch will scuff it up a little without cutting fuzy groves in it and respray somewhere indoors with warm temp.the krylon works OK and has an adhesion promoter built in...I'm a body-paint tech btw ....

 

Likely bad because you didn't prep correctly.
Oils, whatever cleaners (Armor All), and natural residue from the material must be cleaned off before anything.

 

Yep adhesion promote that sucker! Can be found easily and helps alot. Also humidity is a huge thing for paint and dry times. Take a look at the directions on the can and proceed accordingly. It does help the outcome.
