99 Honda accord ex 4 cylinder

Drove it around one night and notice smoke coming from car. (belt caught fire!) Any ways no damage besides a little from belt. When I opened my hood Saw that the pully around the ac clutch or both was RED hot! It started making noises for about a week. before that ac worked perfect but now it doesn't work.

Option A. I go and replace whole unit.

Option B. Which is why i am here.
----- can i just get a belt that goes from the crank pulley to the alternator and get rid of the ac pulley? So, insteand of it going on 3 pulleys (crank, ac, and alternator) it just goes for the 2 that i still need (alternator and crank)?

 

They sell belts w/o AC to bypass at the part stores.
