Icon2 1,100 rpm idle....

We'll I got rid of my eg hatch for a nicely kept 260,000 mile ef si hatch. A little rough on the outside but the interior is clean!

Anywho I have a issue. It's a swapped obd0 b16a and she seems to idle at 1,100 rpm. I did all the basic tune up stuff (fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap &rotor) I replaced the radiator because it was cracked, did the proper way to no have air in the system when I did that. Done a lot of reading and tried it all including the idle air valve I replaced it and still nothing. Reset the ecu still nothing(pr3) I'm about to do the intake manifold gasket as we'll with a hondata to see if it helps..

Awesome car and I am trying my best to check all the vacuum lines as we'll but nothing. Any help/suggestions would be grateful. Thank you h-t!

P.s. Anytime I come up to a light and put her in neutral it dies I have to refire her and she keeps on going. Gah!!

Try grabbing a flathead screwdriver, turn on the car, wait for it to get to normal operating temp, then there will be a gold flathead screw on the upper portion of the throttlebody. Turn clockwise for lower idle, turn counter clockwise for higher rev. Be aware it has some silicone on it to keep it still, so i suggest once freeing the screw from it, reapply silicone at the desired position and let it dry for an hour before driving.

And if all that doesnt work, and if you already adjusted and cleaned the IACV and the FITV (fast idle thermal valve), think about getting yourself a new fitv, or doing a fitv delete

Sadly I've already done that. I just ordered a fitv and as well will see how it reacts when I put the oem plgs in instead of the ngk iiridium plugs

Well update!!
Shop I used did everything to try and track down the issue there last shot was using a non vtec obd0 ecu and soon as they did the revs dropped to normal 8-850. I'm going to drive her around for a few days like this to see if it helps and if so I may just bite the bulliet and convert to obd1 and buy a ecu.

Don't think that is the correct procedure to adjust idle.

1.)engine running at operating tempurature
2.)unplug IACV
3.)adjust idle to ~800
4.)turn engine off
5.)disconnect battery or pull hazard fuse to reset ECU
6.)reconnect battery, reinsert fuse, and plug in IACV
7.)start car.

Adjusting idle with IACV plugged in will not produce positive results - not in my experience doing so anyways.

Tried it. Well intake manifold gasket is now changed and pr3 made it run fine but it hesitates after start up/warm up. When I release the clutch it also starts to make noise.. Sigh I'm praying it's not a flywheel I'm so lost and the shop was crap. Any other ideas?

Update 10/21

Had a few setbacks, but did some research and re did the iacv and fixed the idle to dead issue but still holds at 1,000 or so. Next up is I'm getting a oem clutch kit with a new flywheel. Let's see what this does.

Did you try adjusting the throttle cable? Had the same problem with a high idle when I first did my DPFI to MPFI swap and realized the throttle cable was too tight.

No I havent tried that yet. but it was running fine last night until this morning now its doing the same thing again! however once I got very upset I started to drive her like i would if it was running fine into vtec and out of it quickly and once I finally came to a complete stop it idled fine....

Anyone else have this problem? I even as far as to replace the Pr3 ecu with a other one. Changed the Intake Manifold gasket with a hondata one and and tried the iacv unplug/set idle screw procedure that I read up on here. I really want to drive this since its now fall but no luck at all!

Replaced with new throttle body I got off craigslist for 70 bucks and fixed that issue! 3in tb which is a nice replacement. But I do have a question, when I start her up she bogs then dies but after holding rpm's up for a few min then let off it idles fine, it no longer has a fast idle system. Any ideas?

After messing with several swaps/mix and match throttle bodies/intakes . . .

This post is really the only way to go:

You simply cannot set the idle right without unplugging the IACV first . . . it tries to mess with what you are doing regardless if it isn't unplugged.
