Cleaned the IAC Valve but now idle worse
Help!
I just cleaned my IAC Valve on my 1996 Honda Accord EX. took it out for a test spin and now it seems worse. keeps stalling out on me.
Is there something else I can do to get it back to running?
Thanks.

If you cleaned the iacv and the issue got worse you now need to replace the iacv and see if that was the original problem.
If you sprayed carb cleaner inside while it was hot it's likely the seals swelled up and the iacv has become junk.
You should always only clean the outer metal mesh filter. I never suggest spraying anything other than water inside.

google search. plenty of ppl have cleaned the IACV and had bad idle after if they didnt let it dry before install. i also saw plenty of ppl have issues after adjusting the FITV so i decided to leave mine stock
Exact same thing happened to me after I cleaned mine. The following fixed it: On a cold engine, unhook the battery for a few minutes then reconnect it. Start the car and hold RPMs at 3k for about 5 minutes. Shut off the car, then immediately restart it and let it run for about 10 minutes. This is supposed to reset the ECU and let it relearn the idle (simply unhooking battery usually doesn't work in this case). Good luck!
