92 Civic SiR strip bolt help
The other alternative is so...Get yourself a pair of Vise Grips (Large jaw, not needlenose jaw) clamp onto the rounded out hex section of that compression fitting (with enough pressure to grab without crushing), loosen the sucker and prepare for 1 of three things.
1. have someone replace the compression nut on the fuel line for you, this will slightly shorten the supply pipe. 2. get a matching compression nut, pipe cutter, and a pipe flaring kit and do the job yourself, starting the cut just after the flare in the end of the pipe (this will also slightly shorten the pipe). 3. buy a new supply pipe and install.
I would not recommend any machining done to the nut that could produce sparks, as it's the fuel vapor and not the liquid fuel that will ignite. (ideally you could remove the supply pipe and take it to a machine/hydraulic repair shop and have that fitting replaced if you dont wish to spend for a new pipe). good luck.
EDIT: OH, and this: once youve got a new nut/pipe...buy a FLARE WRENCH in the appropriate size (or a whole set), they will save you headaches like these when working on compression nuts for pipes (which are usually a softer metal as it is, and thus they round out much more easily than any other hardened piece of hardware).
