if im naming it right, that's just the breather tube for the case.
or its the fill tube.
ether way, if the hose is ripped you're fine, just put another tube on it. or just cut the end off of the tube you have now and just put it back on.

It's just a breather to keep dirt from getting in the transmission vent tube. You can either put it on the brass fitting poking out right next to it, or get rid of it and get one of the newer style breather caps from the dealership.
OK thanks guys. Also, can a transmission be refilled from the reverse light switch? Off topic question, but if it can it seems a lot easier than underneath or through the speed sensor.
It can indeed, but you have to be very careful not to overfill. If you take the fill plug out and run a hose to it you can easily fill it in the correct location. That way you know you have the EXACT right amount when fluid begins to come out the fill hole.
