a caltrans truck ran over a tire and it flew into my front bumper and damaged it. paint got all focked up and the tire impact might have done some other damage to it. im goin to try to get caltrans to pay for that shiet.. but i dont know if it will work out. im fricken pissed! ill have to check for damages to my intercooler. ARGHHH!

 

****, sorry to hear that man. ****, I swear to God that Halloween is such an unlucky day. My cousin crashed his car last night too around 1AM on 10/31. I just stay home on Halloween.

That happened to me this past summer. Tire hit the passenger side front fender. Did 1000 worth of damage.

Had to stop autocrossing for the summer, in order to pay for the damage on the car.

sorry to hear about your bad luck. i really dont think you have much of a case against caltrans though. it's not their fault a tire was laying on the road. hope nothing else was damaged

 

dlplayboy: I think you should try filing a claim anyway... although its not directly their fault there was a tire on the road.... isn't caltrans supposed to keep the roads in driveable condition? I responded to your other thread about me getting a bent rim in Fremont... at the time they were doing construction on I believe it was 880 (it was in like 98 or so I really don't remember)... and they left a big *** pothole in the road and didn't have signs posted of uneven pavement or open holes/potholes, or any indication...

I bent a rim and filed a claim for damage w/ Fremont Dept of Transportation and Caltrans... they sent me back asking me for estimates of the damage... I got estimates from 3 shops and they cut me a check... its worth a try.. only costs me the time to write the letter (like 10 mins), write the addys on the envelope, the stamp, and the time to go to 3 shops to get estimates.... bettah than paying for a bent rim IMO... good luck w/ your claim.. hope you get your car fixed..

 

Yeah..that sucks. I'm not sure if this would work, but can't you file the claim to your insurance company? I ask cuz I was driving on 880 in Fremont and I ran over a steel rod on accident. Next thng I know, the damn steel rod slightly punctured my fuel tank and I was slowly leaking gas. Anyways, I filed it with my insurance and they took care of it for me. I only had to pay the $100 deductible.

This reminds me of the time I avoided a near fatal crash. 3 lane high way - Brono towing a little (fishing style) boat in the fastlane. I'm in middle lane with a slow moving car infront of me. I was just about to go into the fast lane to pass the car infront of me when I saw the Bronco's boat lift off the hich and fly about 5 feet in the air. It would have landed directly on my windshield if I switched lanes about 8-14 seconds eariler. Scarry stuff.

 

Happened to me before (Hitting a large tire) on the 105 outside of South Gate. Destroyed my OEM Lip Spoiler and bumper. I also destroyed my JDM header on the 71-91 Interchange.

I also had a tire fall off 40 miles from my house after I let some jack offs at America's Tire rotate my tires for me.

 

im currently tryin to file a claim with caltrans but i keep gettin a fricken voicemail. WACK! daym, i will be VERY pissed if they dont cover it. its not my fault the driver hit the tire and it hit my car... he couldve avoided it if he was paying attention to the daym roads. you guys agree? DAMMIT! arghhh...

sucks that you guys had your share of stupid experiences like that. focked up roads, stupid drivers, things on the roads left by stupid people... its pretty damn ridiculous.

did u get it's license plate number or nething? that would probably help u out if u could identify which vehicle caused the damage.. but if they send u a check w/out u describing the vehicle or nething maybe i should file a claim of caltrains damaging my car

 

we pulled over at the next exit and we had a CHP officer take an accident report. i wanted to make it legit. CHP officers were stoppin by lookin at my car then givin me this look like "your *** is mine". hahah i was paranoid that i was goin to get ticketed while i was there... of a CHP might wait for me to leave and then pull my *** over. there were CHPs all over the place off the san mateo bridge last night. gettin off the bridge... then gettin back on...
