Need Help!
So I have had this 2001 accord for a few weeks now, its only has 40K miles on it. But I absolutely hate the stock rims. What are some good options for the EX V6 with the Naples Gold paint? Because im kinda new to the whole having a car scene and im willing to drop around 600 bucks into rims.
What, you don't like the classic Hot Wheels wheel look?
Grandma(Naples) gold can be a hard color to compliment, silver/chrome/white wheels can wash out against the light gold paint. Darker/charcoal colored wheels may look better. Try to stay away from the 'murdered out' look of all black wheels. This high contrast with the gold washes the black out as well. A silver/grey or charcoal wheel allows for a better contrast and compliments the gold paint, giving it a richer color. However thin spoked grey/charcoal wheels will washout again.
Checkout tirerack, select your car, and when you see a wheel you like, click on 'view on vehicle' button to see it on your car. A 17"/18" wheel that looks great on your car, will look silly in 15"/16" with too much black rubber sidewall.
IMO, save up some more cash to get a 17" wheel and some decent tires. This will give you more choice in wheel/tire types, and the larger diameter will improve cornering/braking performance while not detracting from the ride quality. ASA makes quality BBS rims at a lower price point. I like the AR1 style, and can compliment about any car.
One other note, when switching from a closed/semi closed face wheel like your stock wheels, to an open or spoked wheel 'mesh' wheels you may have a decrease of MPG 1-2miles. This has to do with the aero of the wheels. Note how a Civic hybrid wheel is mostly closed face for aero/ecnomy, where as the ITR wheel is spoked to allow air flow for cooling of the rotors.
