Civic ek project wiring overhaul
Hey there,
Ive had a few cars over the years, but this is my first real project car. I bought the car about a year ago and how things have changed. When I first got the car it had extensive work done to it already, so Its been a lot of troubleshooting and repairs to get the car to where it should be.
Living in Vancouver, we get a lot of rain, which quickly exposed many weaknesses. One day I was driving to the mall and took a long sweeping right turn and my alarm went off, as I was driving. I ended up unplugging the brain and started investigating. Later that week the rain got even worse, and ended up flooding the driver side footwell. It got so bad I actually drilled a hole in the floor behind the seat just to get all the water out.
A little while later I took out all the carpets and seats; carpet went right into the garbage. I took the dash out and found that one of the seams hadn't been filled, so we cleaned it up and that stopped the majority of the water but there are still some holes. When I had the dash out I was amazed at what had been done to the wiring harness. Wires spliced here and there, some covered with tape some not.
The first big project I took on was cleaning up all the wiring in the dash, and certain things in the engine bay. Being a daily driver I need to be careful how much I take apart... because it needs to go back together, and work haha. I went to the wreckers and bought a dash complete with wiring harness and I've slowly been building in my living room.

From there I started taking apart the harness, removing things like AC and other accessories that were no longer in the car. I also started building a panel for the power windows, locks, horn.

Also relocated the under hood fuse box into the glove box along with a painless auxiliary fuse block.

As I had time I kept working on the panel wiring and made a new insert for the windows, horn, and a force switch for the rad fan.

Thanks for taking a look, any questions just ask.

Along with water getting into the footwells some rad fluid made its way in. Turned out that the water neck was leaking, hoses going to the heater core weren't fit properly and the rad itself had an internal crack. The crack was likely a result of the end tanks being welded on. So after many headaches a few parts were replaced including the radiator. Big thanks to Racing Greed in Port Coquitlam for all of awesome work they have done on the car.

Battery was under the seat so I relocated it behind the driver seat
