AC works sometimes but doesn't blow cold air
I have a 2000 Accord, Can anybody tell me why my AC works sometimes. Never when I need it to. The inside lights on the controls flicker off and on. When the lights stay on, it will blow cool air, not cold. I can hear the compressor, I think. lol But when the lights flicker off, it stops blowing cool air. It blows air but not cool air. I've tried the Freon thing. The gauge goes up in the red area. Could it be a fuse or something simple. I've been trying to educate myself but now I know I'm in over my head. I'm an artist NOT a mechanic. I just prefer to try to know what I'm talking about before I take it in to somebody and get screwed.
I live in FL, I need my AC. HELP!

It sounds as though that switch is bad, if it blows cold air when the light is on that means that your A/C is mechanically okay. Check the a/c fuse and see if you get a replacement a/c control unit from a junkyard or something.
