1991 Accord-just changed clutch, now backfires
Hi all. I am new and this is my first post. I have a 91 Accord LX. I just changed the clutch. The car ran great before. It did sit for 3 weeks while waiting for the clutch replacement. When I started it after the clutch, it started fine and even drove fine for about 1/4 mile. I stopped to get some PS fluid, and when I started it back up, it began stutter and backfiring. I have checked and rechecked everything I disconnected, and all the vacuum hoses. Am I missing something? Thanks
Gas gone bad? If the tank was mostly empty it may have had condensation and the fuel may be water logged in those three weeks. At some dry gas and get a fresh fill-up.
tha nm s for the suggestions. I did find the problem. the speed sensor cable was not all the way pushed in. runs fine now. but I do have another issue. it now pulls to the left. it did not before. is it possible that the right side stabilizer could be up side down? I put it back on how it lookex like it should go but it could be wrong. could that cause it to pull? thanks again for your help
are the bushings still on it? might need an alignment. you must of took of the axles and etc to change the clutch right? did you take off suspension components?
I only removed the things the book said to. I removed the right side axel, the steering joint and the lower ball joint. plus the stabilizer. but I was thinking that I may have put the stabilizer back on upside down. but yes the bushings. are all back on

dirty harry alignment goodluck. most of the time i do this it ends up off by like 1-2 degrees its not perfect but it will make you run straight. that is if the car has never been in a accident
I think I have it curving up then down. I will check that in the morning. Hope that is the cause of the pull. The steering rods were not adjusted. Just the ball joints popped off and put back on. Thank you for your help.
it should be facing this way. i think it would be impossible to put the other way. no way it would go on backwards. i think the only way would be if the exhaust wasn't in the way.... if it was backwards you would have a hard time as the middle bend would be hitting the exhaust or at least it looks like it would hit with the curve in the middle facing down
i said i think. or the curve would end up on the bottom side of the catalytic converter???? not the same car. but same concept. you don't think upside down it would hit anything? i just can't picture it lol. i got to replace my endlinks today so ill see if its possible to flip it and still install it correct

OP, you just need to find a place that does a cheap front end alignment.
