I haven't been on here for a long time. I did search and can't find anything that relates to what issue I'm having.

Drove my 98 civic EX and all of a sudden my speedo, tach and temp gauges went out all at once. Fuel gauge still work. When turning on the engine with door open, door chime keeps chiming while engine is on. When turning the key to on and not start only battery light is illuminated and I don't see check engine light verification (I have no ABS so no light for that).

I have checked all fuses underdash and under hood and all fuses are good (altenator and backup light fuses have been triple checked and are good).

I'm thinking there is something with the ignition switch since the door chimes when door is open and engine is on, but I don't really know at all.

Anyone have this issue before and what was the fix?

When you turn the engine on does the battery light shut off? Seems to me more like an issue with the instrument panel circuit board rather than ignition switch. Though I have no idea about the door chiming, it didn't used to do that right? I unplugged my door sensor a long time ago, it was annoying.

 

Battery light goes out after engine is on.
Door chime with door open and engine on or key in on position is not supposed to happen.
