wanting tp put a 91 CRX Si engine in my 91 LX sedan
i was wondering how hard this is to adapt (i cant imagine its too hard) also if theres anything i need to get like a new alternator, starter, ac compressor etc or if they would easily interchange.

The alternator, starter, a/c compressor and etc... will all fit with no problems. You will need to convert to MPFI, though. This means that you will need a new ECU, intake, and throttle body. You will also need new injectors and a modified wiring harness. There are probably some parts that I am forgetting. This link should get you started: http://www.geocities.com/c_rexboy/mpfi.html
You should also search this forum for info on the MPFI swap.

Engine bolts right in with no problems, you can leave your dpfi intake on the car if you want, but you're not going to notice any real horsepower gains. In fact, if your engine is still in good mechanical shape, and you're just looking for more power, all you need is the mpfi swap (see parts listed above, add Injector resistor box, Si distributor and engine harness to steal plugs off of), and cam from the Si engine. the Si transmission would be nice too.

the LX has about 160k miles on it.. its also an auto (ick) i want to change trannys too but i was told when i was thinking about buying an additional Rx7 (for the body i have a 1988 rx7 too) that converting auto to manual is very hard
converting the civic to mpfi sounds like one helluva a job. i would have to have someone do the conversion for me seeing as i dont have the tools or the workspace needed.
i am looking for more power. the LX seems sluggish on the take-off but i think its mostly the auto tranny. i had an 88 Si a while back amd i was keeping pace with a slightly modified 95 Contour SE (roughly 225hp) at about 125. the fact that i know Si's are fast is a big part of why i want to swap.
are there any suggestions as to what kind of swap would be more effective?
i was looking into a b16a vtec but the installation and the motor would cost more than the car did.

A 4 door....
With an automatic......
And DPFI....
On a limited budget.....
And limited tools / experiance....
Any worthwhile swap that you do is going to cost you more than the car's worth (unless the car is in amazingly good condition) especially if you need to have someone else do the work.
Sorry to say, but my recomendation is if you want more power sell the car and get a different one that already has a 5 speed. Try to find an EX model if you're set on having the 4-door, it already has the MPFI. If you're not set on a 4-door, the hatchbacks and CRX's are much lighter, and therefore faster.
Another option is to get really lucky and get your hands on an entire Si that has been wrecked, but still has a running engine. Then getting real buddy buddy with a good mechanic so he'll help you with the swap.
