Seal depth - quick question

Seal depth - quick question
Hi,
I'm currently replacing my 3 seals (cam, crank, and balance seals). I removed them a while ago, now I don't remember what the depth was.
Do you:
1) bottom them out
2) keep them flush
3) 1mm below lip
