F20b VTEC question
I have an f20b swap in my eg. It runs/idles fine a slight valve stem leak in on cylinder. I have another head to put on that I'm working on at the moment. At any rate, I noticed when I had my GSR prior it would VTEC super loud and scream. This one reminds me of my old Del Sol d16z6 vtec noice, just a slight increase in hum. Is it possible the ECU is mapped with an F22 map and not fully engaging the VTEC? Does that even make sense? I hope a tune will be all I need...Anyone else have any suggestions in the meantime?
Most dohc vtec engines have vtec set far too high, so there's a huge jump in power & sound instead of a smooth transition. An F20B's vtec should be set around 4700 rpm and IAB's set to ~5750; it might still be set at the 2300-3200rpm range for an F22B1. Also the IAB's opening is louder than vtec engaging. An F22B1 does not have IAB's.
Interesting. I'll have to see if I can take it up get tuned and maybe get the proper tune for it. I mean it's quick and what not but doesn't have the same kick like my b18c1 did.
