Alright so it's a 95 4dr eg. LsV with a cell in the trunk.
-pump is right off the cell
-pump is pre filtered before fuel runs threw it
- pump is relayed with a 12v 30amp relay
-brand new ground wire
-fuel power supply is completely separate from the car
When I start the car it runs fine for about 10 minutes and then the pump gets hot and the pump starts acting up and winning more then normal
-I'm on my third pump thinking it was the pump going bad the first time then walbro directly requested I try a smaller one
-I've tried (2) 255 pumps & now I'm on to a 155 (recommended by walbro per my setup)

I noticed today while messing with it the only thing that helped was when I rub an ice pack on it while she runs to counter act the heating up of the pump

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

 

Filters cause a lot of flow resistance. I would think the filter before the pump is making the pump work harder that it should to draw in fluid. I think the pump's strength is in pushing the flow out and can handle the pressure buildup after the pump than before.

I really don't see a whole lot of damage being possible to the pump from debris to require a filter before the pump. The filter I always thought was to protect the injectors and cylinders from debris.

I could be way off base but that's the first thing that comes to mind about your pumps burning up and having a full fuel filter in place before the pump.
