Revs increasing while shifting HELP!
I have an 06 Civic Si with 95k on the clock. There is a strange issue that I have not been able to diagnose lately. When I push the clutch in to change gears, the revs keep climbing as If I have my foot still on the accelerator. Here is a video illustrating the problem:
Im shifting at exactly 2500rpm in the video and you can clearly see that the revs jump up ~300-500rpm. My foot is off the gas well before I push in the clutch. It's weird though, it only does it below 4krpm, and it doesn't do it when the AC is on for a while.
I've been to a couple different shops and they have no idea what it could be. One shop told me it's normal, but I know that it isnt. I've rode in a couple of other 8thgen Si's and they do not have this issue. It's really annoying pulling into parking spots or coming to a stop because I look like an idiot reving my engine all the time.
This ones for the gurus.
Thanks guys!

Rev hang... It is programmed into the electronic throttle as a emissions control thing.
The only cure is a Hondata piggyback MCU, it eliminates the rev hang on these engines.

If you guys say its normal, then I guess it's normal. Kinda dissappointing but it is what it is. Weird how none of my friends Si's do this. They rev hang sure, but when they change gears the revs don't increase. I'll have to save up for flashpro I guess. I heard there was a TSB on the rev hang for 06 models. Something like the first batch of 06 Si's were so bad that Honda had to reflash them and they have just normal rev hang. I can't find that TSB so I don't know if I'm eligible. It's a long shot, but still worth investigating.
The 9th gens all have it programmed into the ECU... damn emission bastards. It is nothing but an annoyance. Either pay the dealer coin or just save your pennies for FlashPro.

Trust me save your money and get flashpro not only will their be no rev hang but instant throttle response.
Also getting it retuned will make the car feel so much better certainly lowering VTEC will give you a nice bump in the mid to high range.
The car will fee like night and day compared to what it is now. Best mod period!

Would it be worth calling my dealer and asking though. I'll take anything. I just installed my q300 catback exhaust and I'm in love with my car again. Saving the moneys for Flashpro next.
Honestly you won't notice a difference... I had the revision and it there was really no notable difference it still hang.
Flashpro is the only cure my friend!
