06 Civic Si Squeaky/Popping Clutch
Hey guys! I have been lurking these forums for awhile now and thought I would finally make a post about a nagging issue I've had with my 06 Civic Si. I've posted this over at the 8thcivic forums, and had no luck.
Before all of this, my clutch was perfect, no noise at all. I changed the Clutch Master Cylinder to the one from Hybrid Racing(http://www.hybrid-racing.com/store/8...r-upgrade.html), to fix my 2nd gear grind issue and now it shifts great, but it's squeaking like a ****. And popping. Its all I listen to when I drive. Heres a vid:
The sound is coming from the clutch. Again i'm using the Hybrid Racing CMC adjusted by my local shop. Note the consistent squeak when depressing the pedal, and the pop that generally occurs towards the bottom of the pedal as I'm releasing it. It can sometimes pop up to 4 times during a gear change. Other threads I've read on this issue are people using the stock CMC, and getting it replaced fixing it, but mine is already replaced and it's doing it. Please help!
Thanks
-Chris
EDIT: I guess you can't embed youtube videos on this forum?

The squeaking is cavitation, there is air in the clutch hydraulics. That popping noise could be the result of a lack of fluid, such as if the piston has compressed the air in the lines and that pop results.
Bleed and fill your clutch hydraulics and see if the noise goes away.

No....there's probably not air in the lines is the clutch is disengaging properly. Air in lines doesn't make creaking or popping noises.
Op...first check that your pedal bracket isnt cracked.
Then try greasing the pivots in your master cylinder and slave cylinder. On the master cyl, there is a rod that runs to the clutch pedal. Grease that rod where it goes into the master cylinder body.
Then unbolt the slave cyl (don't undo the lines!). Clean the pivot ball where the slave meets the clutch fork. Clean the clutch fork socket also. You may have a "nipple" forming on the slave cylinder pivot ball. You can file/grind that smooth. Grease up the socket in the clutch fork. Grease the pivot ball.
Use Honda HT urea grease or another good bearing grease. Don't use anti sieze or WD40.

?? Why do you have to remove the CMC to grease it? Look under the dash. It's right there.
Check the pedal bracket for cracks while you're down there.
I'm not sure why everyone has so much trouble replacing CMC's. It shouldn't take more than like 30 mins. Are people doing it without removing the cowl or something insane?

Did you look at the shift fork at the slave cylinder end? Was it burred as the previous post from B serious? The pivot ball and shift fork interface?
Just thinking it through with you...

Lithium grease doesn't last long. Which is why I suggested honda urea grease.
Well after a couple weeks the squeak has returned. I just regreased and the squeak still remains. I can deal with that, it was mostly the poppiing that got on my nerves. That is gone after I re-greased. The bracket has no cracks, and I haven't got around to looking at the slave cylinder. Doing the easy stuff first. I'll check out the Honda grease you were talking about.
Thanks
