b18c smokes in vtec
hey everyone i got a 93 delsol with a b18c gsr swap i recently dropped in.
my only issue is under vtec engagement it smokes heavy.
I figured its oil due to i add about a quart of oil every week if not a little passed a week depends how i drive it.
i think it might be the seals but just want to get more opinions on what i should check first.
i just swapped out pcv valve today and still smokes heavy kind of helped a bit but not much.
i finished a compression check about 10 min ago with engine warm and pulled 230 psi across all cylinders.
thanks for the help i appreciate it.

Oil control rings or valve seals or could be both.my gsr has oil control ring issues.
leakdown test wont tell much for leaking valve seals and with his compression being 230 I doubt that test will yield anything.
next thing would be to unbolt the intake manifold and see of oil is leaking down the stem shaft of your valves.

Off/on topic. I'm doin a build now, just replaced pistons, rings and rods. Was going to just leave head stock and throw it back on but now that I think of it my gsr smoked a bit when Vtec kicked in. Miles unknown, good amount of carbon build up on piston tops and face of valves, but after getting head milled and bathed most of the carbon came off. Rings looked a little burnt. Don't get me wrong I've definitely been putting the engine to the test since I've had it the past few years and I'm sure the previous owner had also due to the auto cross pictures haha! I'm On a budget. Keyword. Don't get me wrong this build is getting up there is $$$, turbo build. Gunna do a hit and miss on the sleeves. The valve-train is NOT part of the budget, SO... My question is, will I be ok if I just replace the valve spring seats for a set of standard seats and use the rest of the stock valve-train???? I mean just for now. In time I will prolly replace more but at this moment I don't have $500+ for a whole valve train kit.

other very possible option is gummed up control rings. ive seen it before. maybe try some seafoam see if it helps.
last ditch possibility is cracked ringland. i have seen a few hondas in my day that smoked due to cracked ringlands but had good compression because the rings were still seated in the bore
