94 Honda Accord Timing Marks off, smooth idle?
What im working with is a 94 lx 2dr coupe accord with manual trans. It has a swapped in F22B1 with LX engine harness and LX distro.
During acceleration starting around 2k rpm and up, the car sounds like someones taking the air intake off @ the TB... I've had a previous F22B1 with 233k on it that sounded smooth and even as it went through the RPM range, but this motor sounds like a subaru in the engine bay! Everything is all stock spec. The upper timing cover is missing and I've come to see that when the crank pulley shows #1 TDC, the cam sprocket shows differently, it is off a bit. I know a tooth or 2 off can cause problems, but what gets me is my car idles as smooth as glass. Do you think this engine noise is caused by the misalignment, and be solved by a crank/Cam realignment and valve adjustment? Any wisdom appreciated!

If using the B2 harness/ECU the engine will not run correctly and VTEC of the B1 will not be activated. Wrong fuel/timing maps if using a B2 ECU for the B1.
Reset the cam belt timing, and install the correct ECU with the wiring needed to activate VTEC.
If the cam timing is retarded the engine may run smooth, but the power will not be there.

Im assuming its the B2 harness because it has the electrical connectors for the external ign coil for the LX distro, and VTEC solenoid electrical connector is not connected to anything. Im gonna make this a weekend project, is it difficult to replace harnesses? I'll need the harness, distro, and EX ECU, anything else?
