Default Power FC , is it worth it?

Hey everyone, I'm just wondering if the Power FC ecu itself is worth getting w/o the commander? used for a relatively stock car with basic bolt ons. any thoughts and opinions are appreciated, Thanks!

he's asking whether its worth it without the commander.

IMO no. this means you're basically getting a stock JDM ITR ecu. that's the base map it comes with, and the commander is the only way of being able to change your parameters. well not only way, but easiest way. so in short, no

only get it if you plan on doing major mods, but then you would need the commander to tune it properly. So just go Hondata

Even if it came with base fuel maps...

Buying a "Fully Programmable ECU" and not being able to "Fully Program" it is like Selling your only car for Gas money.

No.

I have one. I like the unit alot but one big part of the power FC I like is the ability to display sensor readings.

That being said I have tuned once but not as well as I would like and I am of the opinin for what you (unless you have a hook up) will pay for the Power FC the hondata will make more power. You can have the new hondata S200 system, harness and P28 ECU for roughly what the power FC with no commander is going to cost you (I think, verify with sgT)

FYI, Power FC plugged in with base map in place of my Stock ECU made .9 whp and 1.6 ft-lbs of Tq.

I take it the commander is what makes you be able to tune?

Correct, although it does not allow you to access the actual fuel maps, only a correction factor similar to a VAFC.

Hondata sucks

Caused massive pinging in my car, put the car on the dyno and I lost power just about everywhere, but then again I was running 92 octane.

just a correction, the base program for the power fc is the b16b, not the jdm itr.

WRONG...they sell them for the B18C and for the B16B, I owned one for the B18C, that had the Commander for the B16B(that's what the owner's manual said).

Austin - who now has Hondata...

we are talking about part #414-H003 which is for 96+civic and 94-01 integra correct?

Austin-who is wrong and may want to call a power excel shop.

apexi does offer newer programs for the us spec motors which cannot get the same grade fuel as in japan.

BTW-the commander is ALSO the same for civic/integra.

W're talking about different parts...I had a JDM PowerFC that was designed for the B18C, it came with instructions for the B18C. The FC Commander came with instructions for the B16B. I owned the PowerFC ~1.5 years ago, sold it when I pulled out the TODA spec B cams.

When I bought the PowerFC A'PEXi USA could not answer a single one of my questions, did not even want to speak with me about the PowerFC...couldn't give me a date it would be availability, so I bought it from Japan.

Apexi doesn't answer alot of questions because they would rather you talk to a power excel shop. seeing as they are the only shops deemed to offer support for that particular product. i will check my master catalog later on to see the differences between the two. Apexi does have a US spec power full computer though. i have the b16b program in my FC and was able to tune out the knocking my running the ignition timing a little retarded over stock.
