Civic Hybrid IMA Light - Unique scenario!
2004 Civic Hybrid dash lights came on:
1) Maintanence Required
2) Service Engine (Icon, not text)
3) IMA Light
I brought it to Honda, who ran all diagnostics and verified the IMA battery is failing. I have a warranty that still covers the fix, but an inspector from the warranty company (JM&A) has to verify the problem. Honda clears the codes and disables lights (2 and 3) from the car dash.
Inspector arrives, says that without the physical engine lights on within the car, they cannot merely trust Honda's computer records. I am sent home with my car, and I now must drive it around until those lights "turn on again". Honda blames the warranty company for being difficult; the warranty company blames Honda for clearing the codes when they should've waited.
I have driven for two months and hundreds of miles, but still the only light that is on (and that they never turned off) is the Maintanence Required light. Is it possible those lights won't turn on until that one is reset? Is there a way around this bullshit, because I've called both companies several times and everyone is just saying "keep driving". My car is running like **** and it's sketchy to take long trips with an unreliable car.
Any ideas would be helpful...!
