Can't figure out the issue and don't know what to call it
Ok 93 Honda civic 1.6 vtech sohc.... now it's doing this symptom intermittently but more and more frequently and worse... the mechanics can't get it to repeat when they test drive the car... when I drive the car more so at a stop light but does it while driving steadily the car dies down.... it don't choke or stutter it's as if the gas settle isn't being pressed and taking off from a light the car starts to move and it does it then comes back and picks up.... the only code it spit says it's the fuel system possible pressure regulator map sensor or o2 sensor and is running lean I checked the fuel filter and is fine I checked the fuel pressure and it was below spec and when u cut the car off the needle drops down not holding any pressure. I went to a junk yard and grabbed a fuel pump and put it in and the symptoms are the same and a couple times even stronger no one can figure out what it is and also the pcv hose is disconnected and we can't find a nipple it's suppose to be on anywhere idk if that would effect it... the fuel pressure regulator doesn't show any liquid in it. Can someone plz help me
Did you repeat your fuel pressure test after replacing the pump, or did you just assume that a junk yard part would magically fix your issue?
The original guy reading the fuel pump was wrong about the specs everything is fine the specs were on point and same as this one so apparently I bought a fuel pump for nothing so it isn't the fuel pump causing the issue

What exactly does your fuel pressure read, at the filter, with the key turned to ON(II)? What exactly is the CEL code? Saying it's "in spec" doesn't tell us anything.
I don't know the exact code he read the computer it was 40 something with a letter it said fuel system running lean said possible issue with fuel pressure regulator map sensor and o2 sensor said to check the o2 sensor for a leak of oil or something spilled on it but it's clean and the o2 sensor isn't going to effect the gas so we looked at the regulator and it was dry and has vacuum the mechanic said the only way to figure it out is to have everything hooked up and driving it when.it does it to see if any pressure drops cuz it's running fine
There are 16 different lean codes. You need to figure out the exact one and give it to us if you want any real help. Otherwise, let the yokels you have working on it now fix it.
Ok I will try to get the check light back on to read the code again I had disconnected the battery to do the fuel pump and the shop is down the street so it hasn't come back on yet the nipple I found in your diagram it is suppose to be a plastic nipple that is apparently broken off and why I can't find it it went from the top line on the canister over to where the regulator is ty... as for the fan it never comes on I can leave the car idling all day it don't turn on I have replaced the relay on it and still don't come on hard wiring it the fan works and taking the cap off the relay and lifting the piece turns the fan on.... the symptom is only when it is in drive and intermittent usually at a stop and starting to go I press the petal the car starts to move then it's as if I'm not pressing the petal I let off the kettle and press it and usually it picks back up if I press the petal further down instead of letting off of the petal it goes down a ways before it picks back up and the car moves... I'm on here for the help because they can't figure it out.... I'm learning to.be a mechanic and do my own work I come to the shop and get a lol help here at times but I do it on my own and can use there tools I'm not a paying customer so my car isn't a priority to them and they don't spend much time looking at it
Also the other thing is the car doesn't run hot... I have replaced the coolant sensor as well it rarely goes up to half way on the dash even tho.I occasionally get a really really hot smell that I'm guessing comes from the radiator
so you're saying that the car will hesitate, and when you press the gas it doesnt move. BUT if you floor it (WOT) it will go again? if so, there is a solid chance your o2 sensor is poop.
Ok sorry the purge valve is where the nipple was broken so it's not able to connect I'm mobile so I couldn't see the name of it nor remember it. the fuel regulator was is fine.... I'm waiting to get the code cuz the guy is really busy and I can't use the scan tools.... I will check the tps sensor to see what it says and let u know. But the symptoms of hesitation is still there and recently it just seemed like it wasn't fully driving the way it should and then picked up. it wasn't horribly bad nor dropped like it usually does

Being this is a 5th gen, there is only one o2 sensor and fully effects fuel trim. Open loop all the time is detrimental. So yeah the person must have been thinking 6th gen and the downstream o2 sensor that only monitors the cat.
However, with the purge solenoid valve not connected to the vacuum line and thus also creating a big massive vacuum leak. That has to be fixed first before you can diagnose anything else.
Quite likely it's the only real problem and everything clears up once the vacuum leak is no longer present and the evaporative part of the fuel system is operating as designed.
