Honda optional audio console ashtray
So I haven't driven my hatch for a while and just moved, well before I did I bought the optional audio console and an ash tray seprately, unpacking it seems the ashtray has disappeared, I'm wondering if it has to be either the EG JDM or USDM audio console ashtray or if any other model fits
Depending on the optional audio console, the rear ashtray from an 88-91 prelude fits. Im forgetting whihch particular models, but if you google it, then you might be able to find one that fits from the boneyard.
I think the JDM console is similiar in ashtray as the stock USDM/CDM EG ashtray while the EURO optional console is totally different with an ashtray with a flip down door.
Just looking at these on ebay and disgusted with the 150 dollar price tag for the jdm version.

USDM double din ash is on the left and can be found from a prelude. JDM double din ash is on the right and I have never seen it in another car other that for that optional piece. EDM single din ash is just like stock CDM/USDM.

This is the one I'm interested in so I can swap the bottom half to a slide out cup holder setup that handles larger cups more efficiently.
NVM, interesting actually, most of the EBAY ones claim to be JDM but are USDM.

If I may ask what year range prelude can you find this one?
Ohhh I see, I totally misunderstood. Thought the console could be found in the 'lude... Was getting excited that I might find a cheap center console.
Guess not, C`est la vie.

Prelude console can be adapted with a bit of work and in my own personal opnion a lot of effort to make it look proper. Btw, I believe the ash trays were mentioned in ludes in post #6
If JDM is in the name of the listing before you click it, then that is there to get noticed faster. It's is also handy for people like me that have saved searches.
Yes you can put a prelude in, I did it years ago, then took it out. A lot of work. I like what honda has made for the EG. Stupid mistakes.

You would be suprised how many people have the n. America double din parts with out the faceplate, it can brake easy. I hope this thread has helped you. My favorite is the VTI hatchback Europe honda access console.
Single din is up top, then ashtray w/ lighter, and finally a cubby below. So you can have the gathers reciever under your heater control, the gathers equalizer in the din and no need for the amber din box.

This is the VTI center console.
Also in the picture, EDM VTI 9500 140mph cluster, JDM amber clock, USDM honda odyssey heater control, JDM amber din box, JDM honda of America key and shift **** both from the Insight, JDM honda Primo key chain, Non SRS leather wrapped 3 spoke steering wheel, front and rear foglight buttons, custom personal box (no smoking ash tray), and lastly honda badged USB charger from handa-accessories. That last one is a good cheap buy!!!
