Default have a question about 97 type r's

Do all North American 97 type r's have vin matching engine and tranny tags? i heard some earlier made type r's dont have them. i know the 97's dont have the stamped body panels, but is it also the same for the engine/tranny?

All USDM 97' ITR's have vin matching engine, transmission, and bumpers/fenders/hood/trunk/doors. Which body panels are you referring to?

Besides the vin on the firewall and dash, Canadian Spec 97's is the only one that didn't have the vins on the body panels, bumpers, fenders, trunk and also didn't have the green metal vin tag riveted on the transmission

Having owned a 97.... that ^^^. I can't speak for CDM cars but my USDM 97 had all the regular VIN tags you'd expect.

I currently have a CDM 97 R and did my research before I purchase the car if there is any VIN tags on the panels, body, engine & etc since I will have the car inspected when it get stateside and my search comes up that the CDM 97 does not have VIN tags anywhere in the car besides the firewall and dash.

Here is a link where the Canadian model was mention:

My CDM 97 R does not have VIN matching on the body panels that are original to it, nor does it have one on the engine, which I assume is original, but can't be sure because the car has a pretty shady past.

Never heard that before. I just know for a fact, that the CDM 97's don't have a VIN on the block and the tranny.

okay great, because when i bought my 97, i didn't see the vins on the block and tranny. the block and tranny didn't look like they were tampered with. When i asked around most said that they didn't have the stamps. So basically all cdm 97 itr's didn't have stamped body panels and block/tranny...

I have a 1997 cdm itr and it does not have any vin’s except for the fire wall and dash. I was very sceptical if its originality due to this but it seems that all 97 cdm itr’s are like this. I have been trying to find more info on this but theres not much.
