F22b1 aem rail, 375 injectors
I just bought a aem fuel rail and fpr.. Could I run 375cc injectors and be okay? What would it improve/effect? And should I use the f23 intake manifold? I'm just trying to upgrade this motor without boosting it. Help and pointers needed. Thanks guys.
Running higher flow injectors is not going to do anything for your performance unless your motor has a demand for more fuel. RC has a nice little calculator on their web site where you can plug in your potential hp and it will tell you the flow rate of the injectors your need. So, for an F22B1 making a stock 145hp, the 240cc injectors are just fine. If you were to switch to 375cc without doing anything to the ECU, you probably couldn't get the motor to start.
All an engine is, is a big air pump. More power needs more air, with more air, youll need more fuel. This is what a super/and or turbocharger does. It mechanically sucks more air in. At atmospheric pressure, your intake valves can only bring in so much air. If you dump in extra fuel, you will only make your car run rich.
All that will happen, is the injector pulse will be shorter...as the ecm will most likely just componsate for the bigger injectors.
If you want a little more power, shave the head, this will bump up compression(which depending on how high you jack up compression may require high octane fuel)...or bore out the engine .030 over...this will increase in3 Or just go the easy route...and stick a turbo on it.
